Camping is enjoyable because it offers freedom from urban living, but it doesn’t mean that we don’t have to follow the rules. Most campsites will have designated firm guidelines that you must follow if you want to camp there at any time of year. None are all that demanding, but you should make sure to find out what you’re in for so that you can have the most fun possible. One primary unwritten rule that you should always follow of is to be polite to campers sharing the site. Camping is a unique social experience that depends on solid cooperation among all the people at any given site. Never forget that fact because while there may be less people around, you won’t truly be alone.
It would be wonderful to have absolute freedom when going camping, but if you are using a registered campsite you have to follow the rules. Many of the guidelines are designed with the safety and well being of other campers in mind. So it might mean restrictions on noise volume and how you act towards other people. Even the simplest group in a small 4-person camping tent can cause a lot of mess, so be mindful of others and always clean up afterwards. Your campfire should be fully maintained at all times and consider the smelly smoke that it gives off. There shouldn’t be any rules that block you from having a good time, so pay attention to keeping the whole campsite safe and sound.

Photo by drainhookIn order to book a space in many campsites you have to be of age, so that means being at least over the age of 18. There may also be time certain restrictions regarding when you can use specific facilities such as bench tables or the water front. Make sure to remember your time schedules so you don’t get caught off guard at the wrong period of day. Most campsites will have a firm limit as to how many people and vehicles can be on the property. So feel free to set up your big 6-man camping tent in the middle of the grounds, but don’t go over capacity in considerations of the rules. Many campsites also want your fees to be paid based on the length of your overall stay, so just like a hotel make sure to leave on schedule. These are the main rules that apply to most campsites out there. These rules are designed to let you have the most fun while preserving the site for future campers, so play nicely and enjoy your camping experience.
