Now that the kids are out of school it’s that time, once again, to plan the family vacation. This might not be the year that you can take the easy way out and simply head for your favorite Florida beach. True, a week at the beach is usually something that the entire family can enjoy but this isn’t exactly a usual summer. There is so much uncertainty surrounding predictions about where the oil from the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe in the Gulf that many are thinking long and hard before booking their reservations.

Of course, what you would really like is to spend that week on some fabulous golf course, but what are the chances of that happening? As a matter of fact, you could do just that and be a hero to your wife and kids. Why not take advantage of a golf vacation package at Disney World?

Before you start imagining how much you don’t want a picture with you and Goofy and you would rather visit your mother-in-law than sit through “It’s a Small World”, shift your thinking to those four championship golf courses. Three of the Disney courses in Orlando are on the PGA tour and the other is an outstanding par-36 practice course.

You may not ever consider Disney World when you’re daydreaming on your wish list of courses you would most like to play, but maybe you should rethink that list. You know that when Disney does something, they always do a first class job. Golf, Golf Digest and Conde Nast Traveler consistently rate Disney World at the top of the list of best U.S. golf resorts and they belong to the prestigious Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary Golf Program.

The only drawback may be having to choose between courses. There are the Disney’s Palm and Magnolia courses, especially convenient if you’re staying at the Polynesian Resort, Bonnet Creek Golf Club’s Osprey Ridge courses and the Lake Buena Vista course, which near the Saratoga Spring Resort and Downtown Disney.

If your kids ever get enough of Space Mountain and the Tower of Terror, you could have them join you on the Oak Trail course. This is nine holes designed with younger or inexperienced players in mind.

Sure, you may place higher value on those personalized golf tees from Pebble Beach or St. Andrews in your collection. Chances are, though, you just might look at the one your kids gave you on the plane home, the one with mouse ears, and admit you had a great vacation.

Everyone loves Hotel California Acoustic

The first time I heard the Hotel California acoustic version I was blown away. I had all these visions going through my head of how I could take this masterpiece and put my own acoustic twist on it. This goes with any classic song like this; we all, as musicians, want to make it our own with a unique flavour only we as individuals can produce. For many years I had played the original version on electric guitar but it never even occurred to me that an acoustic rendition was doable.

I spent a few weeks plucking away on my acoustic trying to achieve the tone I was looking for but it just wasn’t coming to me. There were a few friends of mine that had taken a few old classics and turned them into acoustic masterpieces. With their help I was able to start putting together a rendition that was starting to sound pretty good. I t really takes a solid plan whenever you want to turn an electric guitar version into an acoustic version that won’t be complete garbage.

Hotel California is a unique song in the way that it has multiple parts to the song. It is almost like a movie. The guitar solo is really where the struggle begins when you want to play it acoustically.

Now that I had the style and flow I wanted I had to choose which guitar I wanted to play it on. Of all my acoustic guitar instruments I love to play on, my Gibson J-200 seemed like the best choice for this song. The big sound of the guitar really got out the message and mood of the song and when it came time to play the solo, the easy fretting of this guitar made it a breeze to rattle it off.

Since that project I have tried it on a few other guitars but none of the versions I’ve recorded sound as good as they did on the J-200.

Leveling in WoW is such a pain. If you’ve spent a couple hours in Feralas only to get a few quests done, then you know that finding tips for leveling is important. Don’t be stuck for a couple weeks at level 65 because you don’t know the pro tips for leveling like everyone else does.

First, remember to always grab as many quests as you can. World of Warcraft leveling has been made much easier by the increased experience points per level. You can get to Outlands and Northrend days quicker by completing quests as fast as you can. Completing quests fast gives you a competitive edge towards leveling that the speed levelers are using to hit 80 in only a couple days.

Next, make sure you skip elite quests and group quests, or quests that send you across the map with nothing else to do there. These are wasting your precious playing time with travel and deaths. Each time you have to run back to your body, or take resurrection sickness, you’ll eat away at your available playing time. You can always go back after you hit level 80 in one week to complete quests you may have missed, and get achievements.

Don’t run back to town after you complete a quest. Mounting up and running around will chip away at how fast you can level. Grab as many quests as you can, then follow the WoW in-game Quest Helper to get through quests quickly, and move on to the next. Once you’ve done all the quests for a zone, then run back into town, turn in all of your quests at once, and pick up the next ones in the chain. Once you get in a habit of turning in all your quests at once, instead of one at a time, you’ll be getting 200k exp per hour, rather than barely pulling in a couple thousand.
