The material should be chosen for comfort and for the amount of contact that is going to be offered the horse and rider.
Finally, the size of the dressage saddle is going to play a huge part in purchasing one. A saddle must be comfortable for the rider as well as the horse. A saddle that is too big or too small for the rider is not going to help them to put the horses through the dressage paces.
