Throughout this world there are a lot of freaky weird animals that are endangered by mans encroachment on their natural habitat or of over hunting for meat, fur, or body parts for so called home remedies, and religious reasons. Other animals are just like humans caught up in civil unrest and war which results in ever declining numbers. One such weird animal is the pygmy Chimpanzee.
Pygmy chimpanzees are found only in one remote lowland rain forest region of the war torn region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The pygmy chimpanzee has suffer from this civil unrest, along with mans encroachment on their habitat, and hunting by the local population. This rare chimpanzee was first discovered in 1933 and since that time little has been learned of this great ape, mostly because of the constant civil unrest in the area, but also because of the remoteness of it’s habitat.
Another animals that is also suffering from reduced numbers from mans encroachment on their natural habitat is the Asiatic Wild Dog. The Asiatic Wild Dog also known as the Dhole is a medium sized animal that rarely gets any larger than around 45 pounds. Even though the Dhole comes in a wide range of coat colors they are usually identifiable by their black tipped tails.
The Dhole’s natural habitat ranges from India to China and stretches as far south as Java. Even though one of the main reason that these animals are declining in numbers is because of the destruction of their natural habitat, it is also because of mans over hunting of their primary food source the deer. Currently it is estimated that fewer than 2,500 Dhole are left in the wild with dwindling numbers every year.
These two endangered animals are just a small portion of the creatures that are threatened by man’s world wide conflicts and his growing expansion into what were once wild areas.
