Garnet—it’s a gemstone that was used thousands and thousands of years ago in the BC years—or the Bronze Age. Millenniums later, garnet is still one of the most desirable gems; it’s used in everything from garnet rings and host of other jewelry, to industry—whereas garnet is used as an abrasive in high pressure sand blasting applications.
Garnet rings are well-known for their vitreous luster and gorgeous shades of red and violet. It ranks, usually, a 7 on Moh’s scale (named for Friedrich Mohs, it’s the standardized method of rating a mineral’s hardness), and that’s consistent with other gemstones such as amethyst and Rose quartz. The various shades are not only limited to red, either.
Garnet, from garnet rings, is found in such lustrous colors as orange, blue, deep purple, green, pink, and black. It typically hails from countries like Russia, the U.S., Madagascar and Turkey—the most valuable of all, the blue garnet, is extremely rare and can even change from blue to green to purple, and back to blue. A 1 ct. blue garnet can fetch as much as $10,000.
Garnet rings also come in less rare, more obtainable forms. Almandine is one of the most popular—with a deep red, lustrous characterization and is self-proclaimed to be the “warrior of the heart”. Pyrope, which is a red-brown mixture usually, is another form of highly-prized garnet.
Tsavorite garnet (or grossular) is also one of the most-treasured gems, and for good reason. Contrary to customary garnets, the Tsavorite has an emerald color and is absolutely gorgeous under any light. Other fine types of garnet include andradite, spessartite, and uvarovite.
Jewelry Stand
A jewelry stand is essential anytime jewels of any value are showcased. The term is a little ambiguous; however—as jewelry stands can range from anything like a small, tabletop butterfly stand that hangs a few pieces of jewelry, all the way up to the 7 foot/glass enclosure used in professional jewelry shops.
However, think of the benefits you get with a jewelry stand. You get to organize your gem pendants, diamond earrings, etc. in an attractive storage medium. There isn’t any need to worry about losing your jewels, as long as their properly on the stand, and it also protects your priceless valuables from theft and damage (assuming it’s enclosed or protected otherwise).
Also, think of the awe that it’ll inspire with all those jewels adorning it. Arrange your rubies, garnets, onyx, diamond, and etc., along with all of your gold, silver, and platinum, on a jewelry stand. Impress your friends and family with it, whilst at the same time, make a statement about yourself and your good taste.
