How To Prevent Your Clothes From Being Dyed
January 21, 2010 – 7:35 amSince I was in my teenage, I experienced thousands of times that my mother got my clothes dyed during the cleaning process. Having my clothes dyed is not just a matter of money. For those clothes that I really like, I may not be able to buy it back all the time (and you will not wish to buy the same one…)! When I have grown up, I get to know some tips for washing clothes!
First, always read the tag attached to the clothes to see the suitable temperature and washing method for washing. An inappropriate temperature may cause the clothes to shed color. The kind of soap that should be used is sometimes stated.
Try to separate dark clothes from light colored ones for washing. When the dark clothes are washed together, even the black shirt is dyed by the dark blue jeans, you may not discover that.
Some colors are not dark sharp red or green. Such colors also easily dye other clothes.
Certain types of clothing are more likely to shed color. One of them is jeans. Do expect jeans always shed color!
Be careful to use bleach. Bleach is best to use only on white clothes. For any other colors, they are likely to be bleached to light gold, brown or white. You may find some bleaches that are specially designed for colored clothes. Use such bleach if you are in need but, to be frank, it is not as powerful as the original one.
When washing delicate clothes, use delicate detergent or those with color protection formula ones like Woolite. Such detergent not only protects the fabric but also the color to make it look new all the time.
Finally, after washing, dry the dark and light colored clothes separately. I had an experience that by drying those clothes near to each other, one of my favorite tees got stained.
