When it comes to making any plant grow it needs two basic things, water, and light. Almost every gardener knows this in some form or another. They try to apply these three things the best that they know how and hope for the best. The problem with this is that some gardeners especially the ones who are just starting out in the indoor gardening hobby are not too good at applying these things correctly. Sometimes they will water too much, not give enough light and add way too much fertilizer, or any other combination of the three, whichever the case the plants usually end up poorly developed or dead. If this sounds like something that is happening to you and you are not sure what to do exactly then read on and take some notes.
Water, the first thing that plants need in order to survive and thrive plays an important role in both sustaining the plants photosynthesis operations and carrying and soaking up nutrients to the various parts of the plant. Providing your plant with the proper amount of water is the whole name of the game. To do this read about your plant and see if it prefers a moist soil, dry soil or somewhere in between and water accordingly, to get an accurate measurement of how much moisture is in the soil take a tooth pick and poke it in the soil, pull it out and see how much dirt is stained on the tooth pick.
Light is the second necessary thing that plants need to survive and thrive. If you are gardening indoors then you will need an artificial source of sunlight such as indoor LED grow lights. The top led grow lights out there will tell you how to place their lights for the best results and how close to place them to the plants. If you are not able to get one of these high end devices just go by this rule, never farther than a foot and never closer than a quarter. Following this will ensure that you do not burn your plants.
