Choosing A Mens Gold Bracelet

June 14, 2010

How come nobody wears bracelets anymore? At one point, they were very popular, and then seemed to disappear entirely. At any rate, now that they seem to have been removed from the popular consciousness, we can now see stylish people wearing them again, in interesting ways. The last couple of years have seen the return of the slightly thicker bracelet – especially for men. The thick bracelets have always been a favourite of ours, especially if it is made of an unusual combination of metal and gemstones. For example, rubies tend to lend bracelets a very interesting look – this only works with thin bracelets, however. If you want to create flair and panache in a bracelet, particularly a mens gold bracelet, you need to go with a thick one.

Of course, mentions the gold jewellery expert, this discovery was first made by some of the older European jewellery marques. Companies like Hermes and Bulgari have been creating thick bracelets for years now – to great success, of course. However, the prices of those jewellery marques are usually somewhat inflated, especially when you compare them to the prices of a skilled independent jeweller. The price of the luxury brands will always be up to twice as much as the independent jeweller’s price, and there will not be a significant difference in quality either. Indeed, in many cases the craftsmanship of a truly skilled independent jeweller can be far ahead of any mass-produced brand.

This is especially true of men’s bracelets, because the ones that are created by the bigger brand names tend to be somewhat formulaic. By contrast, a good jeweller who is creating the piece from scratch will have far more willingness to experiment with other ideas, and infuse his own level of creativity into the piece – and this can make all the difference. If you are looking to spend some serious coin on having a bracelet made, may we suggest a brushed platinum bracelet with emeralds and sapphires for a cool blue and green look – and have it made at an independent jeweller.
