Two Great Perfumes: Moschino Glamour And Play Intense

April 20, 2010

Moschino Glamour by Moschino

Glamour was launched in 2008 in the duty free market for airport travellers, and then worldwide in 2009. The perfume keeps the good-humoured style established by Franco Moschino, with a fresh aroma with floral notes.

Like all Moschino perfumes, Glamour is produced by Euroitalia, which also produces the Versace perfume Versense.

The opening notes are charged with citrus notes between mandarin, orange and grapefruit. Its aroma seems to remind onr of Happy by Clinique, yet sweeter and not floral. In the middle notes mandarin is no longer dominant and white flowers have more space, together with sweet fruity notes which are very closely mixed together and hard to define. The base notes are more aromatic, almost spicy with a hint of musk.

In spite of a name, the perfume is not dense nor nocturnal, but fresh and cheerful. Perfect for a daily use, especially in the summer, it’s not very much at ease for an evening use, unless it’s a very informal occasion where there is no need to draw any attention or seduce.

Play intense by Givenchi

This perfume was launched between 2008 and 2009, as a more intense version of Play. The opening is very similar to the original, with citrus orange notes and dry wood, with resins. The middle notes keep the same orange notes but the resin evolves towards sweet tones, very similar to the caramelized patchouli of TL pour Lui by Ted Lapidus.

After about three hours the base notes start, and the patchouli tends to be dominant, but then it evolves into a dry coffee with wood and then sweet tonka bean.

Compared to the original Play, Intense has a stronger patchouli aroma with hints of wood. Whereas the original was mainly suitable for a summer use, this version can also be worn in cold days. In the office it’s more dynamic, more serious but without the strong personality of other perfumes of the eighties. It’s something between Angel perfume for men A*Men and B*Men (both by Thierry Mugler). From a romantic side, it can work well, but it misses something, maybe some more attractive notes.
