The key to understanding rabbits is to observe their behaviour and respond to what they appear to like and not like. Some rabbits don’t enjoy being cuddled while others will gladly hop into your lap while you’re sitting on the couch. Always be very gentle with your rabbit because they can be much more fragile than they appear to be. Treat them as the living beings that they are and resist the temptation to squeeze them like dolls. In general if a rabbit feels like being left alone then it’s better to do so. Be aware of its various moods and it will be more likely to return the affection that you show it.
Rabbits can make wonderful pets and if you choose to bring one into your home you can expect a good furry companion. But you should be ready for what owning a rabbit involves because it’s much more than simply keeping it locked in a cage. Rabbits don’t commonly show affection but that doesn’t mean that they don’t need your full attention. A pet rabbit is not like other small pets because they need much more care to make sure that they are fully happy in their environment. But if done the right way, a routine of dedicated rabbit care doesn’t have to take up every moment of your day.

You need a solid rabbit cage that will give your bunny freedom to move, but it also has to be easy to clean. Rabbits can safely be litter trained in a manner similar to cats, but that doesn’t mean that they stay out of trouble all the time. Make sure to line the rabbit cage with soft bedding and have a spot for food and water that your rabbit can enjoy. Rabbits also like to snack on light hay from time to time so ensure that there is an abundant supply at all times. Caring for a rabbit takes effort but it’s worth it to have one of the cutest and gentlest animals as your pet.
