Prepaid Gift Cards Vs The Personal Touch

June 14, 2010

Sometimes, it’s a tough decision when choosing a gift for someone. During special occasions, one would find hard time thinking of something that would best fit the recipient. In some cases, due to the lack of time perhaps, we simply buy prepaid gift cards and let the person decide on what he or she likes. However, it’s still a good thing to do just a little thinking as it may go a long way.

When choosing gifts, the primary objective is to satisfy the recipient. Having said that, it’s recommended that you get to know that person a little bit more.

Traditionally packed gift would be perfect for kids. The reason being is that these innocent ones value the element of surprise. The feeling of excitement and eagerness to open a big, beautifully wrapped gift is a sure way to put a smile in their faces. As they get older, their standards increase as they expect more expensive toys or gadgets. Still, these come in conventionally wrapped packages.

Teenagers and older folks are more open to other types of gifts. This would include cash and gift cards. The benefit of this, especially for the gift cards, is that the recipient will have the chance to choose whatever gift they want rather than receiving something that they already have. A custom gift card that’s tailored to their interests would add a personal touch to the gift. For instance, there are cards that allow you to put a picture or include a personal message.

Aside from knowing your recipient, another thing to consider when choosing for the gift is the occasion. This factor is as important as the one discussed earlier. This is because the occasion usually dictates the widely accepted type of gifts for that occasion. For instance, cash and gift cards may do well as gifts for newly weds, but it will never be a good gift during Valentine’s Day. The point here is that you always need to do a little thinking for you to provide a good, or even the best gift to your recipient.
