Are you a tea drinker? Sure hope you are because this article here is about tea and nothing but tea! In this article I would be introducing mainly two types of teas. This includes the black assam tea as well as the green rooibos tea. Well actually rooibos tea is not actually a type of green tea but there is one type called green rooibos tea out there.
Rooibos tea is a tea from Africa (South Africa to be exact) and it actually means “red bush” so how can the tea be green you might ask? When the rooibos tea is processd it has to be oxidized. The name of this process is not called fermentation though many people think that it is called so. The oxidation produces a reddish-brown colour of the rooibos which enhances its flavour when the tea is being drunk. During this process, some of the tea does not get oxidized. This unoxidized rooibos tea is known as the “green” rooibos tea. Do note that the green rooibos tea has a higher concentration of the good nutrients normally found in rooibos tea. In addition, due to the more demanding production process for green rooibos tea which is obtained in almost the same way that normal green tea is produced, the green rooibos tea is more expensive than traditional rooibos. The other tea I am talking about is assam tea.
For this article, I would like to discuss organic assam tea. First of all maybe I should briefly explain what exactly organic tea means. Organic varieties of tea are tea which are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The soil is enriched with natural compost and a layer of mulch retains the moisture while providing extra nutrients as it breaks down. This growing method is more labor-intensive but produces superior quality tea. Hence if you want to buy assam tea, I would suggest that you purchase organic assam tea.
