The Space Wolves have some of the most brutal young troops available in Warhammer 40,000. These troops are known as Blood claws. These rookie troops only want to prove themselves. This article will be about how to use them against different opponents in your games of Warhammer 40k. Most opponents will usually have either a horde army list, a mechanized army list, or a monstrous creatures list.
The Space Wolves have many weapons they can use against horde army lists. There are a couple ways to outfit your Blood claws to fight against lots of enemies. Orks, Tyranids and Imperial Guard are just some of the armies that can have massive armies with lots of troops. If you give your claws a flamer and maybe a Wolf Guard with wolf claws, you should do well. Also, you can have a fifteen man squad and have two flamers for more hitting power. A power weapon in the squad will probably help the squad a lot too.
Mechanized army lists can be scary. Especially if you are going against an Imperial Guard player. The best way for the Space Wolves to deal with armies like this is power fists, melta bombs, melta guns, thunder hammers. All these weapons will smash aside most tanks and other armored vehicles. Blood claws should be given power fists. Also, feel free to add a Wolf Guard to the squad with a thunder hammer. Get to their tanks as fast as possible and smash them.
Finally, monstrous creature lists are always a pain for Space Wolves to deal with. That is unless you know how to arm your Blood Claws and other troops the right way. Against these armies you want power fists. Lots of the massive creatures you’ll fight in these armies have a high toughness. Again, thunder hammers and power fists will do the job. Tyranids and Chaos demons armies have the potential to have lots of the creatures. Make them pay for spending so many points on so few models. Take them out.
In closing, there are many ways to fight against your enemies in Warhammer 40,000. This always starts my arming your troops in ways that allow them to succeed in their role. I believe arming your Blood claws as described in this article are the best ways. You may have to switch your weapons in or out depending on your opponent. High strength weapons for mechanized army lists and monstrous creatures, more attacks and templates for horde armies. If you follow these guidelines your Space Wolves will be victorious.
