Star Wars Lego Collector Dilemma: To Open or Not to Open

June 20, 2010

Star Wars Lego collectors know for a fact that when the going gets tough enough for them to dispose of their collection, they might be forced to do so. Although it is a logical possibility that one day you may need the money and have to sell, none of them seem to care about it when you first start with your Star Wars Lego collectables. Why not have a little fun with your prize possessions instead of thinking about losing them too early?

For some other people, the very purpose of collecting rare Star Wars Lego is so that they can sell them for a higher price when the sets become discontinued and rare. Although you can’t take such attitude against these collectors, some enthusiasts still can’t help but question the “selling out” factor in the practice of, well, buying, storing, and selling.

They always say that before you become a Lego Star Wars collector, you have to be an enthusiast and fan. And before you become a seller, you have to go through becoming both an enthusiast and a collector. The most difficult part in this notion is that the worst nightmare of a collector is to part ways with, say, a limited edition Millennium Falcon set that they care much about or selling your super rare Star Wars Lego minifigure of Boba Fett (the one with the printing on the arms and legs). Worse than all that is trying to restrain yourself from opening the box to start with.

So to become a successful Star Wars Lego entrepreneur and to get the most out of your Star Wars Lego collectibles, then, you just have to know which great set to preserve and which one to open so you can play and have fun with. And yes, both lessons come with experience.
