kitchen cabinets

If you have a pantry in your home that is well stocked and well designed then you will know of the benefits that it offers. Some houses will come with pantry storage cabinets built right in and this makes it so much more convenient when it comes to storage and cooking. However, for more, simple kitchen cabinets are the best you have on offer. These are deeper and more suited to holding things like plates, cups and all the different sorts of kitchen equipment you might have. It is possible, however, to create your own pantry cabinets simply by converting your kitchen cabinets.

What you need to do first of all when you make this decision is to check whether you have any suitable kitchen cabinets that can actually be converted into pantry ones. You will need to also think about how many member there are in the house and how much food you generally have stored there. For a large family you may need more capacity so will probably need to locate more than one suitable kitchen cabinet for conversion.

When you have found the right location, then you should next look to add the right shelving to the cabinets. The real different between kitchen and pantry cabinets is that kitchen ones are deeper and only contain about one shelf. You can therefore block off the back of the cabinet in order to make it more shallow, and also add more shelves.

These can be put at varying height depending on what you want. If you want to place some smaller shelves in order to hold your spices and all of your tinned goods then you can most certainly do so. You should also add some grip liner to the shelved holding smaller items in particular.

When you have done all of this then you will be able to arrange your foods as you wish. This can be done in any sort of order to complement your cooking style.

These are just a few ideas on making your own pantry cabinets.

The mere thought of a major kitchen renovation is enough to scare the heck out of most people.  It doesn’t take very long to realize that the cost of revamping a kitchen can quickly spiral out of control.  There are a number of factors that go into the price of a re-done kitchen, and there are some things you can do that will save you thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars.  Let’s take a look at some ways where you can trim the costs in your kitchen repair.

One of the major parts of a kitchen renovation is the cabinets, since they make up such a large portion of the room.  Many people look at their worn out looking cabinets and think the only solution is to rip them out and replace them entirely.  The truth is that even if your cabinets are decades old, if they were constructed out of solid hardwood to begin with, there is a good chance that they are still structurally sound.  Take a look inside them and see if there are signs of rotting or termite damage.  If you find that they are still in good shape, you are in luck.  You can do what is called cabinet refacing, which means that you just replace the cabinet doors and other visible parts, but leave the rest of the cupboards intact.

The truth is that you can save yourself thousands of dollars by doing kitchen cabinet refacing instead of a full replacement.  The materials will cost a lot less this way.  If you really want to save yourself some money though, try doing the job yourself.  You can easily slice the renovation cost in half if you are willing to do most of the work yourself.  These days there are great books and websites that will walk you through the process step by step, so even the most inexperienced novice can do it.  Even if you don’t have the tools, it costs far less to buy the tools and do it yourself than to pay someone else to do it.
