The lipo surgery is usually performed under a general or a local anesthesia. Just like in any other surgery complications could happen from liposuction. Some are minor and common. There are skin irregularities, fainting, bruising, numbness or nerve tingling.

Recovery is going to be uncomfortable.Take good care of yourself at home after the procedure, it will mean faster recovery. Pain medication and a body compressing garment to keep the swelling down will be prescribed. When you arrive home have someone help you to go to the bathroom the first time. After urinating stand up slowly. Let someone help with your first shower.If you feel dizzy like you may faint sit down right away.Drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated. There may be some fluid draining so Be sure to change bandages when needed. Go back to walking about a week after surgery but take it slow.

The swelling should go down from 2 weeks to 2 months. Numbness should go away in several weeks. Most people can go back to work in 1-3 weeks depending on what procedure or procedures were done.
