The True Tummy Tuck Cost: Be An Educated Cosmetic Surgery Consumer
Saturday, January 30th, 2010One of our personal pet peeves in regards to cosmetic surgery is that whenever people discuss the subject, they always accentuate the positive while downplaying the potential risks. Unfortunately, not only is this frustrating, it can also be dangerous as well. Therefore, this section is going to focus on why you as a potential consumer of cosmetic surgery must be educated.
At this point, you may be thinking we are blowing things out of proportion. We truly do not think so. Let’s discuss why.
The simple fact is a tummy tuck has a myriad of probable complications, which range from the minor (such as bruising and swelling) to the extremely severe (such as death). With such a huge range of possibilities, you would think every tummy tuck surgeon would emphasize the potential risks and the precautions they take to mitigate them.
However, this is not the case. When my wife and I went for a tummy tuck consultation, all we heard from the surgeon was how he was going to dramatically improve my wife’s appearance.
He did not once describe any of the safety precautions he was going to take (by the way, he also was quite resistant whenever it came to the subject of how much does a tummy tuck cost). In addition to never addressing the precaution, he didn’t mention a single tummy tuck risk.
As you can imagine, my wife and I hightailed it out of that surgeon’s office as quick as we could. We both believe that if a surgeon is unwilling to address the risks of this surgery and the safety precautions he or she takes, we were not going to be comfortable with him or her. So we kept looking.
Fortunately, we found the New Jersey Tummy Tuck Guide and were able to find the perfect cosmetic surgeon for my wife’s situation.
