The advancement of technology greatly speeds up the process of creating portable gadgets out of existing desktop machines. However, despite all the number of machines they converted to portable gadgets, computers, telephones, etc., they have not been able to create a portable version of an A3 laser printer. Since there are not any portable A3 laser printers, we need to see if an A3 laser printer is fit for traveling, to fit in portable lifestyles of various people.
An A3 laser printer is normally large because of the way it prints. It employs a xerographic process that uses a drum as a photoreceptor. Unfortunately, these drums are relative to the size of the paper they are printing. If ordinary laser printers are large, you can expect A3 laser printers to be larger. This is already true even if they are monochrome laser printers. If you consider colored laser printers, they are even larger because of the additional toners for 4 different colors. The size alone is enough to answer the question at hand. There aren’t any A3 printers that come in portable sizes, let alone A3 laser printers.
Suppose we say there are A3 laser printers that come in portable sizes, will they still be fit for traveling? There are inkjet printers that have internal batteries that allow them to be used even without being plugged in. This means that their normal operation can be sustained by batteries. However, in the case of laser printers, it has a heating element that heats up in order to fuse the ink to the paper. When elevating temperature is involved, no battery can sustain this process. This is why there are no such things as ovens or freezers that run on batteries. They need an AC type of power in order to produce this effect. With this kind of requirement for laser printers, they need to be plugged in all the time when being used. In other words, you can’t stick a battery in it and continue to print.
If you take away all the things that stop the A3 laser printer from being a portable gadget, if you take away the size, if you add a battery, and assuming if it is still functional, it certainly would be a great asset to travelers. The primary customers would be businessmen and salesmen. They have a need for printing that most laser printers provide. Laser printers provide crisp quality texts and they do this with great speed. Add the capability of printing in A3 sizes and you have a powerful portable gadget.
To put it simply, A3 laser printers are not fit for traveling. However, they will certainly be very useful if they come in portable sizes. Imagine all the stuff you can do if you take it along on trips. However, because it is impractical to bring them along, A3 laser printers will have to serve you from the desk at home, or at the office.
