  • You also need to plan for the lights placement. You must put your solar panel in the outdoor area where there is a plenty of sunlight, as this system depends on the sunshine for power. Placing them in the shade can cause them to not fully charge, which means they will not stay lit all night.
  • You should follow the manufacturer’s instructions when installing the lights. Some of them come with posts to help you install them properly. Be sure to follow the instructions; including the placement guidelines.
  • Make sure you leave sufficient space between the lights. This will give them a classic look and will ensure safety in the outdoor space.

Make sure you understand the type of solar lights that you are using. Some have a battery that can be recharged but has to be replaced every once in a while (some as often as once per year). If you leave the battery for too long in the fixture, it may leak and cause damage. There are some lights that can last for more than twenty years, but the batteries in those are not replaceable.

Instead of working more intense on increasing the efficiency, they opted to find ways to produce the panels cheaper. However, nanotechnology could provide a panel that may be 80 percent efficient, and work even in dusk. This is a big step, considering that the first solar panel had an efficiency of 1 percent! In addition, according to latest reports from Europe, by 2025 2.5 percent of the world’s power could be generated by solar energy. Efficient solar lights run on that free, clean energy and the good news is that the technology constantly improves.
