Non Folding vs Folding Treadmill Running Machine

May 7, 2010

One area where consumers will often have troubles when purchasing a treadmill running machine, is the decision on whether or not they should purchase a folding model.  There are a few different advantages and disadvantages to owning folding running machines.  Take some time to consider each before you purchase a new treadmill, to ensure that you are making the best buying decision.

A huge advantage that folding treadmills have over non-folding models is that they save space, and a lot of it.  Being able to fold the treadmill down, and place it into your closet or underneath the bed is huge when it comes to staying clutter free and organized.  Non folding models have bulky motors that prevent them from being stored away easily.

Another advantage folding style treadmills have is that cleaning up is a lot easier.  Normal non-folding, motorized treadmills will usually end up becoming clothes racks, or other types of storage units.  Unfortunately, having a large exercise machine in the middle of your bedroom can discourage some people, which will lead them to allow clutter to gather on the treadmill.  Folding it away underneath the bed allows you to get rid of your clutter much more quickly than motorized machines.

However, one disadvantage to owning a folding model is that they are much less stable than motorized non folding style treadmills.  Folding models are cheaper in price, which means that there is less material used overall, during the construction of the machine.  If you are a bigger person, you may want to consider the downfalls of a cheaper, less sturdy folding model.  A motorized non folding treadmill running machine will provide you with a solid foundation, because of the heavy duty frame used during construction.  Folding models tend to feel more like a commercial gym machine, rather than an at-home exercise machine.
