Where to Look for Good Used Cars Under 10000

May 28, 2010

When looking for a good quality second car, you can find many used cars under 10000 available for purchase. Many households today have more than one driver. This means that they may need to have two or more cars in the family for everyone to get around. One place to shop for a previously owned vehicle is a car lot. There are lots which specifically sell only used cars and others which have both new and used items. Most dealerships will have other cars available which were owned before because they take them as trade in vehicles on new purchases.

Usually on a dealer’s lot these cars will be sold “as is” and may have had no other service done to them once they were accepted as trade. When looking at cars on lots, you can request to take any one you might be interested in, for a test drive. Most car places will require a service person to accompany you during this drive, but you still have the option of taking it to a garage in the area to have it looked over for any defects. The garage may charge a small fee of $10 to $20 to perform a routine check, but it could save you hundreds of dollars in the long run.

Another option for finding a car for your family is to look in the classifieds for those vehicles being sold by private parties. A lot of people believe they can get more money by selling their car on their own then by using it as a trade in. You may even find a better deal this way, because some dealers might raise the cost of their cars significantly to make a profit. By doing some comparison shopping for used cars under 10000, you can actually come away with a very good deal on your car.
