Creating a Mini Home Spa With a Waterfall Shower

June 22, 2010

A great product for your bathroom is a waterfall shower head.  Fixtures can be installed with relative easy if you have any basic skills in plumbing.  A waterfall head can help transform your existing bathroom into a home spa.  This can be a great way of saving money, as spas are not cheap to visit.

If your budget is limited, you should consider doing your boathroom remodeling project in several smaller stages.  Depending on your existing plumbing, you may nor may not be able to accommodate a waterfall shower head.  If your pipe diameter is small (usually true in older home neighborhoods) you can also install a recirculation system.  This is similar to what is used in Jacuzzi bathubs.  The existing water is kept in a holding tank and recycled through the system.

A recirculation system can create much higher than normal water pressures.  This is is same principle behind swimming pool and Jacuzzi pumps.  If you do not have any plumbing experience it is not recommended that you do your own plumbing.  You do not want to risk water damage in your home from a poor remodeling project.

You can search for a plumber using a source such as Craigslist if you wish to save some money.  This can be a great way save money by eliminating the middle man in the project.

Once you are done installing your waterfall shower head you can increase your spa experience with a few low cost items.  Purchase a few tea lights for the next time you wish to have a relaxing shower experience.  This can be done online or you can pick up a few from bed bath and beyond.  Natural candlelight is a great way to relax after a long day of work.

Another great item for your home spa includes aromatherapy bombs.  These are scented with fresh items such as vanilla or lavender.  When these are placed in your shower, they will release light scents when water hits the bath bombs.
